Mercury Retrograde Begins
Mercury, the planet of communication, goes retrograde today, the 15th of March 2025. What does that mean? It signals a time when our thinking processes turn inward. We become more introspective and may need extra time to process our thoughts before making decisions. It’s a period for reviewing, reevaluating, and reflecting on our mental processes.
Mercury in Aries: Impulsivity Meets Slow-Down
Right now, Mercury is sitting in Aries — a fiery, impulsive sign that loves to initiate and act quickly. Aries energy is all about “go, go, go”, but with Mercury slowing down, we need to be cautious. Watch for speaking before thinking, which can lead to misunderstandings. STOP and take a BREATH before you respond to avoid unnecessary conflict.
Mercury Moves into Pisces: A Shift in Energy
As Mercury continues its backward journey, it will enter Pisces — a water sign known for creativity, intuition, and letting go. This is a perfect time to review creative projects and tune into your inner world. However, thinking may feel foggy, unclear, or indecisive. Pisces energy encourages us to release outdated thought patterns and embrace the unknown.
This feels like a final moment of letting go — especially around creativity or mindset. Pisces, after all, represents surrender. It’s a powerful time to reflect on any old beliefs or mental habits you’re ready to release, especially as we step into the new astrological year, March 21st when the Sun moves into Aries.
Communication Tips During Mercury Retrograde
Since Mercury governs communication, when it’s retrograde, things can get messy. Here are some quick tips:
Pause before you speak — especially with Mercury in Aries.
Take time to craft your messages (texts, emails, social posts) to avoid being misunderstood.
Reflect before reacting in conversations — don’t let fiery Aries energy push you into impulsive responses.
Revisit and Reflect — Not Start New Ventures
This retrograde is an excellent time to review ideas, projects, and plans — especially small business ideas, social media strategies, communication with siblings, relatives or members in your local neighborhood.
With the Virgo eclipse energy from yesterday, you may have experienced an external event that triggered an internal shift. Mercury retrograde, starting right after the eclipse, offers the perfect opportunity to analyse those changes and reassess your direction.
Key Dates: Mercury retrograde continues until April 7th — an ideal time for brainstorming, planning, and revisiting old projects or ideas. However, it’s best to hold off on launching new ventures until after this date.
What to Avoid During Mercury Retrograde:
Avoid major purchases — especially tech (phones, computers) or vehicles. Mercury rules travel and tech and buying during a retrograde often leads to malfunctions or regrets.
Hold off on signing contracts or making binding commitments — miscommunications and overlooked details are likely.
Double-check travel plans — delays and disruptions are common. Have a backup plan.
Personal Reflection:
If you’re a Mercury-ruled person (Gemini or Virgo sun, moon, or rising), you may feel this retrograde more intensely. Personally, every retrograde seems to bring me car trouble — I’ve even put the wrong fuel in my car during one! Classic Mercury retrograde mishap.
Relationships and Venus Retrograde:
Venus, the planet of relationships and values, is also retrograde until April 12th. This brings an added layer of re-evaluation in relationships — especially after the Virgo eclipse’s call to release old patterns and embrace personal growth.
Expect challenges in relationships or value systems, but trust that this energy is helping you redefine what truly matters.
Final Thoughts:
Mercury retrograde may bring delays and miscommunications, but it’s also an incredible opportunity to slow down, reflect, and reset. Use this time to clear out mental clutter, reassess plans, and prepare for a fresh start after April 7th.
